There are certain invitations in life that are just too amazing to decline. Chalet One Oak is one of them. Even though I had literally just stepped off a plane from LA to London, my friends Divya and Tapesh (a married couple) who own Chalet One Oak, told me to ignore the time zone confusion and jump on a plane to Geneva for a weekend at their chalet in Megeve. Boy were they right. The eleven of us who they so graciously hosted for four days had one of the best and most decadent ski weekends of our lives.
A few days before I arrived, CNN voted Chalet One Oak as one of 7 of Europe's Most Luxurious Ski Chalets.
This is the dramatic entrance when you first walk through the door of the chalet (painting of Jay-Z done by the owner, Divya!):
Yes that's a Harley parked in the middle of the foyer:
My favorite design feature of the chalet (as if I could pick just one, riiiiiiiight) is the Swarovski lights that illuminate the hallway walls between bedrooms:
The ski room with boot heaters just off the main entrance. (This is soon going to give way to a bar and an indoor pool!)
Here's a look at the bedrooms on the ground floor. Chalet One Oak has six bedrooms and sleeps 10- 12 guests:
Love the wood and stone combination in all of the bathrooms (and the Bulgari bath amenities):
How cool is that fireplace?!?
Down the staircase we go (again with that amazing stone and wood juxtaposition) to the main level with the kitchen, two living rooms, dining room, decks and outdoor jacuzzi:
There are 360 degree views of the Alps as well as Mont Blanc:
Outdoor vodka bar:
The hot tub:
Two living rooms, each with their own dedicated fireplace:
Here we are before we head out to explore the quaint little Alpine town of Megeve:
Chalet One Oak is even more magical at night:
This fireplace has a glass back panel so you can see it from inside as well as from outside on the balcony:
All eleven of us snug by the fireplace:
The food at Chalet One Oak was just absolutely delicious. Each day the chef prepared a monumental breakfast, lunch (for the first day when we were not on the slopes), and dinner. Each menu was themed according to the wishes of the owner and included Moroccan, Alpine and Mexican multi-course meals.
Breakfasts are always my favorite:
Homemade hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows:
Honestly, meals overlooking Mont Blanc every day .... I could get used to this (especially when those meals are being prepared by my own personal chef)!
Chalet One Oak is available for rent and starts at $25,000 per week, complete with staff. You can enquire here.
