Combloux, France - Aux Ducs de Savoie

When I'm not staying at Chalet One Oak, my favorite little alpine hideaway, in neighboring town Combloux, is the hotel Aux Ducs de Savoie. This property oozes that mountain charm from the minute you walk through the front door. The most appropriate word to describe the hotel is: cozy. From the wood paneled floors, walls and ceiling, to the warm tartans, checks and plaids of the rugs, curtains and upholstery, the hotel has set the scene nicely for lazing by the fireplace.

Rooms are a good size, most with balconies in view of Mont Blanc, and sufficiently modern bathrooms (ours had a separate toilet room).

Love the pop of silver metallic pillows:

I don't think I'd have a problem getting snowed in at this bar:

In-house dogs/hotel mascots are a bonus in my book!

A view of the breakfast room:

I've never been to Megeve in the summer months, but by the looks of it, this would be a lovely property to visit when the weather is warmer, the snow is gone, and everything is in bloom. There's nothing quite like the fresh alpine air, no matter what the season.
